Statement on SB 114 proposing to divide the city of Atlanta

Mayor Dickens has made it a priority to listen to and work with the people throughout Atlanta and Buckhead.  Under his leadership, Atlanta has made great progress on public safety, improving city services, and restoring confidence in city government. Crime in Buckhead decreased by 14% in 2022 and the new police precinct underscores this administration's commitment to keeping residents safe.

Poll after poll shows that more than 60% of Buckhead residents want to keep Atlanta united.  Furthermore, all of the state legislative candidates in the Buckhead area who opposed Buckhead secession were elected last November and those who favored it were defeated.

Today, Atlanta has the highest bond rating in the city's history and the largest fiscal reserves.  Let’s continue this progress and this momentum toward improving the quality of life for all of our citizens.
